One of the most popular images I have ever painted was this one and I must say that it, among all of my paintings, it is most reminiscent of my childhood. Back when winters seemed considerably harsher the early winter sunsets always seemed more brilliant. And, as a youngster, it seemed one was always racing against time to get home from wherever, before it was dark. Another icon of that period was the glass insulator on the hydro lines. They were everywhere, of course, and they always seemed the perfect target for snowballs, stones and even rifles. Little did we know. They seemed to glow even more in this late day light.
